Google has finally finished and posted their Gmail video collaboration project. In our previous coverage of the Gmail video project named Gmail: Behind the Scenes, Tech In Demand had predicted that Gmail would be leaving beta with the release of this video. This appears to not be the case as there has been no official announcement from Google about their product leaving beta.
The video features many users representing over 65 countries. Most of the clips are roughly 4 - 7 seconds long, all posted on YouTube, and features more than 60 clips out of at least 1,100 possible clips submitted by users.

The video is a nice tribute to a product that hundreds of thousands of people are using on a daily basis. I personally have been using Gmail for the past three years and have never had the need to switch to anything else. It seems for about two of those years, I have been questioning why Gmail is still in beta.
This seemed like the perfect opportunity to end the beta status, but Google does not feel the same about this apparently. Is it possibly bugs that we do not hear about? Is it a way for Google to cover themselves if any future problems arise? Is it just because they feel it is not ready to become a final product? It could be any of these things, but an explanation would be nice from someone at Google.
As I asked in my previous article, what do you think of the Gmail video collaboration and the fact that Gmail is still in beta status? Please leave a comment and voice your opinion.
