Apple: Memory Marked up Eight Times More Expensive!

Ever see something so amazingly stupid that you just have to sit and think about it for a long time?  That is what I'm having to do when it comes to my future purchase of a MacBook.  The Apple site surely must have a typo on it!  There is no possible way that this can be right.

Essentially, I have read on many forums about how popular it is for Apple to mark up the prices on their upgrades. However, over an $800 increase? You have got to be kidding me! Not to mention the fact that Crucial's memory is guaranteed for life. Apple's memory is not. I am doing a lot of head scratching at the moment.

Oh, and incase you wanted to know, the specifications were exactly the same, and the only benefit you have from paying Apple the extra money is that you don't have to open your laptop to install it yourself. If you know how to operate a screw driver, you can install memory.

This was, by far, a shocking find for me, and especially when considering the fact I am planning on purchasing a MacBook soon.  I was too afraid to look up the difference in hard drive prices.  I know Apple owns the memory and has the right to do what they want to do, but does anyone think this is fair?
